House Of Living Stones: Part 2

Jim Crouch

“The wise man built his house upon the rock…the foolish man built his house upon the sand.  The rains came down and the floods came up…”  Which house was still standing in the end?

Peter discusses a similar idea in I Peter.  Peter continues his metaphor of us, as part of the church, being rocks used to build a spiritual house.  This spiritual house is set upon the Living Rock, the firm foundation.  A foundation that holds strong through the worst of storms.  As the building blocks of that house, the more contact we have with the Living Rock, the more immovable we become.

Listen in as Stan digs deeper into how we cement ourselves to the Living Rock, and how the cracks and blemishes actually strengthen the bond to the Foundation.

House of Living Stones: Part 1

Jim Crouch

In this message, Stan kicks of a new series entitled House of Living Stones. This series is a walk through the book of Peter.

In his book, Peter uses the idea that the church is house of living stones. And, if we as a the Church are going to reach the margins of society, and those pushed away by the institutional Church or never interested in the Church…this  House of Living Stones metaphor is an ideal way to demonstrate Jesus’ power, love, grace and mercy in the world. Listen in as Stan explores I Peter 1.

The Naivety: Part 2

Jim Crouch

Jesus was God’s gift to us, and as was discussed in Part 1, God was excited for and anticipated Jesus birth because of the redemption it brought for all mankind.  But with His coming to earth, Jesus brought with him gifts of his own to leave for us…tools, if you will, that help put together the entire package.  Unfortunately, many of the tools have been misused and often times act as nothing more than pesky packaging that we discard to get to the good stuff.

Listen in to find out what Jesus gave us and how it should be used.

The Naivety: Part 1

Jim Crouch

Each Christmas Eve, children across the globe find themselves tired and unable to sleep because of excitement and anticipation for what the morning holds…be honest, you remember the feeling, don’t you? Lying awake for what felt like hours, only to find out it had been minutes.  Then sneaking out to the tree to catch a glimpse at the packages with your name on it… In much the same way, God sleeplessly awaited for that first Christmas morning…even sneaking out to the tree to give a glimpse of the package he was sending.  From the very beginning and many times after, God foretold of the redemption through the Son of Man sent down from heaven…Jesus.

Join us as Stan begins The Naivety series with a look into the “hints” of Christ’s coming throughout scripture and how through those “hints”, God showed how much he desired our redemption back to Him.

Parables: Part 4

A late night visitor in search of something to eat…a widow in need of justice, seemingly unrelated.  However, both stories were used by Jesus to show how a loving God responds to us through prayer. Prayer is essential to our relationship with God.  Listen in as Stan discusses prayer’s role in our spiritual lives.

Are We On Target? – Part 2

Jim Crouch

Stan finishes up this two part series dealing with what the target of Christians often is and what it should be. As heard in Part 1, our target should be discipleship, but American Christianity is not always focused on discipleship. What’s American Christianity actual focused on? How do we make discipleship the target, once again?

Are We On Target? – Part 1

Jim Crouch

We’re always aiming at something, whether we know it or not.  The question is, what’s the target?  As Christians our target should be Jesus, but often times it isn’t.  How do we bring our aim around to the right target and then stay locked on?
